The Hairdressers’ Charity is the hairdressing industry’s charity, which relies upon support from corporate sponsors and donations from the industry to fund its beneficiaries. In an ideal world, every hairdresser who applies to the charity would be provided with financial assistance. Unfortunately, that simply isn’t possible.
Therefore, each application is judged on a case-by-case basis by The Hairdressers’ Charity management committee. In order to qualify for help and have your application considered, you will need to satisfy one of the following criteria*:
- Be currently working as a hairdresser with a minimum of three years experience (exceptions may be made for those who have recently started out in the industry or have less experience in the industry).
- Have previously worked as a hairdresser for a minimum of five years.
The help may be needed for you personally or for your immediate family, including your spouse or partner, parents, children or grandchildren in full-time education or up to the age of 18, or other dependants.
To apply, you will need to complete an application form and provide detailed evidence of your finances e.g. bank statements, as well as proof of your current or past employment as a hairdresser. Visit the Apply For Help page for more details.
*There are also funds set aside to pay for training courses and/or equipment for hairdressers who are just starting out in the industry or those who have made the decision to retrain in the face of adversity.
